What is Kitchen Chemistry?

 

Kitchen Chemistry is a unique STEAM-based program where kids explore the science, math, history, and literacy behind food! Through interactive, edible experiments, students will mix, measure, and discover the wonders of chemistry in their own kitchen creations.

✅ Math – Measure ingredients, explore fractions, and experiment with ratios
✅ Literacy – Read food-themed stories & follow step-by-step instructions
✅ History – Discover the origins of recipes & culinary inventions

Class Schedule & Age Groups

​

👧 Ages 8-11 – Choose Monday or Wednesday (10 AM – 1 PM)
👦 Ages 12-16 – Choose Tuesday or Thursday (10 AM – 1 PM)

Each session runs for 8 weeks, with engaging, hands-on lessons designed for age-appropriate learning and skill-building.

🔪 Basic Kitchen Skills – Measuring, mixing, chopping (age-appropriate), and following recipes
🧼 Food Safety – Handwashing, proper food handling, and safe ingredient storage
⚗️ Chemical Reactions in Cooking – What happens when ingredients combine?
👩‍🍳 The Science of Baking – How do baking soda and yeast make dough rise?
🍬 Candy Chemistry – What happens when you heat sugar to different temperatures?
🥚 Eggs & Emulsions – Why do eggs hold ingredients together in recipes?
📏 Measuring & Math – How do fractions, ratios, and conversions affect recipes?
